As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Glenn J. Geada has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.
Many of our patients come to our unique practice to address specific symptoms caused by a myriad of inflammatory conditions that are triggered or aggravated by stress. Dr. Geada will address each patient's specific condition with a patient-centered form of care that includes an extensive health history interview, a functional medical exam, and standard or specialized lab testing. Our holistic approach helps to determine how an individual's food, stress, environment, hormones and a multitude of other factors are influencing physiology and creating symptoms.
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
What does nutrition have to do with chronic conditions? Everything! The Standard American Diet is sending many people to seek help for all kinds of inflammatory and immune conditions. The oxidative stress that is generated from refined foods that are full of chemicals and additives are primary contributing factors. Our goal is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our nutrition director can assist a patient on their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our Charlotte wellness center, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.
Dry Needling is a highly effective procedure for the treatment of many musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Dry needling is not Acupuncture. Dry needling works on many levels. The small thin, painless needle creates a micro-lesion into the muscle or tissue. "Trigger points" are areas of tight and painful muscle. This will allow your body to facilitate its own healing properties to improve blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to the sites of inflammation, injury or pain. Healing cannot take place if these areas do not receive adequate blood flow. There is no medicine on the needle. It all happens naturally.
Our bodies are under constant stress and our muscles stay constantly contracted. This diminishes blood flow and creates more inflammation and pain, which in turn can spread to other areas. The central nervous system is constantly on overload and we perceive this as pain. Dry needling can loosen and relax spasms and balance your nervous system. So, whether you have an injury that is just a few days old or have had pain for over 30 years, dry needling can help.
There may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.
